Nicholas Stange - Director, Editor, Producer

Nicholas is currently a teacher at Harlem High School in Machesney Park, IL. He is also one of the main school sponsors of the Harlem Veteran Project. The Harlem Veteran Project is dedicated to recording the oral history of America’s veterans. Over the past 8 years the project has recorded over 200 interviews and created over 150 short feature documentaries. “My Friend Ingrid,” is the third major documentary produced by Nicholas Stange and the Harlem Veteran Project.

Grant Hume - Director of Photography

Grant is a 20 year old filmmaker out of Machesney Park, IL. He first got his start in video production in high school while taking a Veteran Documentary and News Room simulator class. He then went to work for SmythGrey Advertising as a Video Specialist.

Nick Talan - Director, Editor, Camera Operator

Nick is a 20 year old filmmaker out of Machesney Park, IL. He first got his start in video production in high school while taking a Veteran Documentary and News Room simulator class.  He then went on to get his Media Specialist certificate from Rock Valley College while also attaining his Associate of Arts degree. He is currently working in the free lance realm in videography and photography.

Mike Leaman - Sound Recordist, Mixer

Mike is a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom and a communications major from Rock Valley College. He works 9-5's to keep the lights on, but spends off-time recording audio for film, TV, music, and podcasts. These days, he's mostly writing radio-play comedy for his own podcast, "Two-Headed Kitten."


My Friend Ingrid is an extension of the the Harlem Veteran Project at Harlem High School in Machesney Park, Illinois.  The Harlem Veteran Project is a class made of juniors and seniors at the level. The main objective of this class is to record the stories and memories of America’s Veterans.  The students then take these raw interviews and produce short documentaries over the duration of the school year. Over the past 8 years, the students at Harlem have interviewed over 200 veterans and produced over 150 short documentaries.
